Hanvey Casey connection

Kit 51924 reflecting Pleasant Casey has just been upgraded to 67 markers. While the results continue to match Caseys from TN and SC, the only PERFECT match is with one Samuel Hanvey from Ulster (County Down). The Hanvey family arrived in SC about 1766 and lived in all the same places as the Caseys, intermarrying with them over the years. It may be wise to observe this family as we do our Casey research. Perhaps a Hanvey took in an orphaned Casey boy at some point? Perhaps a Casey gem of information is hidden in some of the Hanvey records. If some of you have already made this connection, perhaps you would share some opinions.

Results chart updated

to reflect new results for 67-marker upgrades

Kit 56874 Upgrade

Yesterday I upgraded Kit 56874 (descendant of Jesse E. Casey) to 67 markers. Target date for upgraded test results is March 19th. Kit 56874 and Kit 77349 (descendant of Ambler Casey) are a perfect 37/37 marker match and I do hope the upgraded results will show a 67/67 marker match. Kit 56874 and 77349 are also a fairly close match with the Hanvey DNA test results (genetic distance -1 in 37 markers). I normally do not pay any attention to matches with other surnames and so have not looked into the Hanveys but it is interesting that they appear in the same geographic areas as the Caseys and appear to have some connection with them.
